The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new revenue record after collecting approximately ₦28.102 billion in a single day, its highest-ever daily collection.
The record was achieved on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, surpassing the command’s previous single-day record of ₦20.1 billion, recorded in September 2025.
The latest milestone comes barely weeks after the Apapa Command posted an unprecedented ₦323 billion in monthly revenue in July 2026, further underscoring its growing capacity for revenue mobilisation.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, attributed the record performance to sustained reforms, improved compliance by stakeholders, enhanced trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions and greater efficiency arising from the digitalisation of Customs processes.
According to Oshoba, the achievement should not be viewed merely as a revenue figure, stressing that Customs collections contribute to government resources deployed to fund infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other public priorities.
He also acknowledged the contributions of compliant importers and exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders, as well as Nigerians whose actionable intelligence supports the Service’s operations.
The Apapa Customs boss, however, cautioned officers against complacency, urging them to convert the revenue milestone into greater responsibility and improved service delivery.
He directed personnel to ensure that revenue mobilisation is balanced with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for legitimate businesses. He further called for genuine disputes to be resolved promptly so that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily obstruct lawful trade.
The record comes as the Nigeria Customs Service intensifies its modernisation and digital transformation agenda. Improved digital processes, automation and intelligence-led operations are increasingly playing a central role in making Customs procedures more efficient while strengthening revenue collection.
For Nigeria’s economy, the Apapa performance highlights the potential of combining technology, compliance, intelligence-driven enforcement and streamlined trade processes to boost government revenue while facilitating legitimate commerce.
With the command already recording ₦323 billion in July, the new ₦28.1 billion single-day collection is likely to further raise expectations for Apapa Customs’ revenue performance in the months ahead.
