Nigeria’s data centre industry is rapidly expanding as demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), digital payments and local data hosting continues to grow.
The rise of local data centres is helping the country reduce reliance on offshore infrastructure, improve data sovereignty, strengthen cybersecurity and support the government’s digital transformation agenda. Beyond technology, these facilities are creating jobs, attracting foreign investment and positioning Nigeria as West Africa’s leading digital hub.
Despite challenges such as unreliable electricity supply and infrastructure constraints, operators continue to invest in hyperscale, carrier-neutral and edge data centres across the country.
Currently, Nigeria has 28 data centres, comprising operational facilities and projects under construction. Lagos dominates the landscape with 21 facilities, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with three. Kano, Enugu, Rivers and Ogun each have one.

1. MTN Ikoyi Switch
Location: Ikoyi
A key component of MTN’s network infrastructure, the facility supports nationwide connectivity by ensuring efficient data routing, high availability and reliable communication services.
2. MTN Ojota Data Centre
Location: Ikorodu Road
The facility delivers cloud services, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, data hosting and colocation through high-capacity submarine cable connectivity.
3. MTN Sifiso Dabengwa Data Centre
Location: Ajao Road
Commissioned in 2025, the Tier III-certified facility offers 4.5MW of capacity and accommodates 780 racks during its first phase. Upon completion of Phase II, capacity is expected to increase to between 14MW and 20MW, backed by an estimated $235 million investment.
4–5. Digital Realty LOS1 & LOS2
Location: Victoria Island
These carrier-neutral and cloud-neutral facilities provide colocation services while serving as major internet peering points within Digital Realty’s Lagos campus.
6–7. Digital Realty LKK1 & LKK2
Location: Lekki
Designed for regional digital growth, both facilities offer scalable colocation services for enterprises and cloud providers.
8. NTT DATA Internet Solutions
Location: Victoria Island
Developed by Japan’s NTT Group, the Tier III facility is designed for energy efficiency and sustainable operations.
9. Africa Data Centres LOS1
Location: Eko Atlantic
The 10MW facility strengthens Africa Data Centres’ continental expansion strategy and serves as one of its flagship West African assets.
10. Open Access Data Centres (LOS1)
Location: Lekki
A Tier III-certified carrier-neutral facility offering enterprise-grade colocation and cloud infrastructure services.
11. Equinix (MainOne) LG1
Location: Lekki
Situated beside MainOne’s cable landing station, the Tier III facility provides secure colocation and direct access to international submarine cable infrastructure.
12. Equinix LG2
Location: Lekki
Part of Equinix’s Lagos campus, LG2 provides International Business Exchange (IBX) services and supports connectivity with cloud and network providers.
13. Equinix LG3 (Under Construction)
Location: Victoria Island
Expected to deliver more than 99.999% uptime upon completion.
14–15. Rack Centre LGS1 & LGS2
Location: Oregun
The facilities interconnect directly with all five international submarine cables serving Nigeria and maintain Tier III certification.
16. INQ.Digital Nigeria
Location: Ikoyi
Provides infrastructure supporting edge AI, IoT, secure access services and edge cloud technologies.
17. Nxtra Lagos Data Centre Park (Under Construction)
Location: Eko Atlantic
Airtel’s hyperscale campus will provide 34MW of capacity and support more than 3,000 racks, making it one of Nigeria’s largest data centres when completed.
18. Kasi Cloud
Location: Lekki
Nigeria’s first AI-focused hyperscale campus, planned to deliver up to 100MW of capacity for high-density GPU workloads.
19. Fringe Ikoyi Metro EDGE
Location: Ikoyi
Commissioned in 2026, the 1MW edge facility supports low-latency digital services and forms part of Fringe Africa’s expansion strategy.
20. Excelsimo Networks Data Centre
Location: Gbagada
A Tier III facility offering colocation, managed services and cloud infrastructure backed by redundant power and cooling systems.

Provides direct connectivity to the Nigerian Internet Exchange Point (NIXP), improving data exchange efficiency.

Operated by Galaxy Backbone, the Tier III-certified facility provides cloud storage, disaster recovery and co-location services.
24. Layer3 Data Centre
Location: Gwani Street
Offers Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions for enterprise server deployment, storage and virtual infrastructure.
Kano
25. Galaxy Backbone Kano
Location: Ahmadu Bello Way
One of only two Tier IV-certified data centres in Nigeria, serving as both a primary facility and disaster recovery centre.
Enugu
26. Galaxy Backbone Enugu
Location: Opara Avenue
The modular facility supports digital transformation across South-East Nigeria and functions as a backup to Galaxy Backbone’s Abuja operations.
Rivers
27. Equinix Rivers (Under Construction)
Planned to extend Equinix’s digital infrastructure beyond Lagos and strengthen connectivity across Nigeria’s South-South region.
Ogun
28. Tetracore Atakobo (Under Construction)
Location: Atakobo Energy Park, Ijebu East
The $400 million, 20MW Tier III facility will operate on dedicated gas-fired power generated within the Atakobo Energy Park, reducing dependence on the national grid.
